For as long as I can remember I have always been a morning person. (I know I’m weird). I’m one of those that turned up to morning lectures with a Starbucks in my hand all ready and happy to start my day. I’m also one of those people that turns up to work with my morning coffee all happy and awake before most of my colleagues have even woken up. YES! Most of you might be thinking has she lost it? Well there are actually so many benefits why you should wake up early, I know its everyone’s personal lifestyle choice but it is a choice that you should try out and here are 5 reasons why.
E n e r g y
If you are an early bird like me, we don’t function at night and are probably in bed by 9pm. But that’s okay, as we have a lot more energy in the morning and throughout the day meaning we can be more productive and get more work done. I go for a small morning run which totally sets me off for the day, which I totally love, it feels like I have the whole world to myself! I get home shower, breakfast check all my social medias and news, reply to emails and then I’m off to catch the 6:57 train to work. And if my weekdays are not in that order I feel lazy and I’m not motivated for the rest of the day and I’ll be wishing for it to be all over so I can start again (weird I know).
I n c r e a s e d P r o d u c t i v i t y
I am so productive in the mornings, when you wake up early, you feel motivated for the rest of the day and are ready for whatever the day will throw at you. Waking up early, you will surely get more work/ things done, and things will also get done faster. You have those extra couple hours to do whatever you want or the things you need to do. This could include getting on top of your work emails, make a to do list, go for a little walk before the world wakes up. It’s honestly the best feeling.

I’ts common for people to skip breakfast in the morning as they ‘don’t have time’. We have all heard that breakfast is the most important meal of the day. Honestly, I don’t know how people function without breakfast, waking up early gives you time to prepare a smoothie, have Weetabix, even prepare a home made salad for lunch.

Have you ever woken up and had to get changed really quickly and rush out the door so you don’t miss your train? Well one thing about waking up early is that you will always be on time (Unless London Midlands trains decide to let you down). Being on time is vital when it comes to work. Instead of rushing every morning why not wake up early and prepare for the day ahead. I hate being late I have to turn up to at least 30mins to an hour early for any occasion be it an interview meeting a friend or even at work, can’t cope with that level of stress and most importantly I need time to sit and have a coffee.

Finally, and most importantly waking up early has an impact on your mental health. How you spend the first few hours of the day set the tone for the rest of your day. If you wake up early, you will not have the stress of rushing yourself to work, school, Uni, appointments or interviews. Believe me when I say you will feel a lot happier and it will certainly change your attitude to life. I read that studies have shown that “early birds” are more positive and optimistic and are most likely to experience satisfaction in their lives.
So, I hope that I have convinced you why you should wake up early so why not trial it out. If I sleep in longer than 9am, I feel rubbishy for the rest of the day and my whole day feels wasted!
