Remember sitting in lectures and you couldn’t wait to graduate? And become an adult, because that meant no longer being poor, having a standard 9-5 job and life would be amazing.
Welcome to adulthood! Harder than you thought right?
And you are failing quite miserably.
Here are 10 ways I’m failing at being an adult
Keeping in contact with people: I suck at keeping in contact with people. I will send a text in my brain, but never actually reply back till I remember. I think that’s one of the reasons why I have lost quite a lot of friends. So, sorry guys If we don’t talk anymore, I love you I just suck at communicating like a regular person.
No idea where my money goes: Still convinced that it’s fairies taking it. Seriously. I really think it is.
I can’t parallel park: Can anyone parallel park?
I try to appear more confident than I actually am: Have you ever sat in a meeting and you have no idea what anyone is talking about or what’s going on? Same.. But, please don’t blag your way through your entire career. I’m certain that won’t work.
I get ready for work in 20 minutes: I used to run every morning. But, since graduating and having to get the 6:57 train every morning, I think I’ve now nailed the 10-minute makeup routine and turning up to work with a Starbucks in hand.
Commitment issues: If anything requires my money, time, or energy for longer than 20 minutes I will most likely not get involved. I can barely commit to wearing matching socks, let alone a 12-month gym membership.
I knew I had a hole in the bottom of my work shoes and ignored it, hoping that they would last me for a couple more months. Which they didn’t. It rained, and my socks got all wet and I wanted to sit and cry. So, lesson learnt.
Things that break, stay broken: “I will fix that printer” (I have been saying that since the past 2 years, I think).
I can’t iron to save my life: I try to avoid it as much as possible.
Constant fear of failure: Slightly panicking that I’m failing at certain things in life and forever comparing myself to my friends who are the same age (Why is everyone married and with kids?).
Let me know if you guys can relate to any or let me know how you are failing as an adult.
