It’s okay to quit

How many times growing up did you hear your parents and school teachers tell you stories of successful people, who had many set-backs in life but kept on going, kept on fighting and never gave up. How many times have you been told to “never give up!”. I’m sure your answer is the same as mine “more than you can probably remember”. Society expects us to fight back. When you think of quitting you associate it with failure and giving up. But, it’s not always a bad thing. Because sometimes ‘quitting’ may just be the best thing you can do for yourself.

It’s okay to quit a job that you hate and find something that makes you happy, that makes you look forward to tomorrow and that makes you want to get out of bed in the morning. It’s okay to decide that’s not what you want in life anymore. It’s okay to quit university / college courses that you hate. It’s okay to go and pursue something you are more passionate about.

It’s okay to leave behind and let go of friends that don’t encourage or motivate you anymore. You’re allowed to surround yourself with positive energy in your life.

Quitting or leaving something that you are not interested or happy in anymore is okay. Quitting allows you to take a different direction in life, it allows you to take different opportunities and get out of your comfort zone. It gives you a chance to start over, discover and learn new things. Most importantly, I think quitting saves you from those toxic friends, relationships and saves you from jobs that make you unhappy.

Keep quitting till you find yourself in a place that makes you happy. And remember that you’re allowed to leave the old you behind and start over and maybe even reinvent yourself.
